About AHAN
Our purpose and approach
African Health Access Network (AHAN) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization that brings people and organizations together to improve access to quality healthcare in underserved African communities.
Our mission is to strengthen health facilities, support health professionals, and connect communities to care through locally led partnerships. Our vision is an Africa where every community can access quality healthcare through well-supported local facilities and health professionals.
We welcome collaboration with foundations, philanthropists, healthcare and academic institutions, businesses, community organizations, and individuals. Together, we can combine knowledge, resources, and local leadership to address practical barriers to care.
AHAN’s founder worked with the diaspora community and teams in Ethiopia to help equip four hospitals: Taltalle Primary Hospital, Mega Primary Hospital, Moyale General Hospital, and Nagelle Borana General Hospital. The equipment was donated by Human Bridge, a Sweden-based nonprofit organization with an office in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This experience informs our commitment to local priorities, responsible stewardship, and lasting partnerships.
